One sentence BIG IDEA:
How to attract ideal customers by building a database on your website
Why is this relevant to marketers? When we talk about database marketing, we usually mean collecting customer data. Today I want to talk about how to build a database on your website (for free) to attract customers.
What data do you have (or can you create) that you can use to build a database that will attract the audience you want?
For example, we are currently working on a database of Georgia zoning regulations and building codes that are not compiled in one place anywhere else. The goal is to provide a resource that your audience will want to use so you can begin developing a relationship with them.
So how do you do it?
1) Decide on what data you can collect that will be useful for your audience.
2) Create a spreadsheet with that data.
3) Upload the spreadsheet to a platform called Caspio (www.caspio.com) using a free account.
4) Copy the HTML source code for the database. (See screen shot below.)
5) Create an iframe on a webpage on your website and insert the code. (The screen shots below is from a Wix website.) (See screen shots below.)
Done!
This is the platform we used to create the Speaker Opportunity Database and the Member Perks Database on the SowGrow Marketing Council website. (See screen shots below.)
You can offer the database for free or require a user to set up a login.
Challenge for Attendees:
Think of content your audience needs and build a database around it.
